Birgit Prochnow
I am a passionate bodyworker, yoga teacher, and yoga therapist, drawing from classical and contemporary traditions. My roots lie in Sivananda Yoga, complemented by a love for Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga, and Yin Yoga, informed by modern movement physiology. I also work as a certified prevention instructor, online yoga teacher, breathwork and meditation guide, freelance painter, and art educator. Beyond my professional life, I am a mother, a life enthusiast, an old-building renovator, a Corfu lover, and the guardian of Fairground Corfu.
Creativity has always been at the heart of my life. I studied art history, art education, and Fine Art with a focus on painting at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, where I also discovered yoga. Initially a casual practice, yoga soon became a deep passion, inspiring me to explore its full breadth—from Hatha and Sivananda to Power Vinyasa, Anusara, Hot Yoga, Aerial Yoga, and even SUP Yoga on the water. Years of study and practice nurtured a richly branched approach to bodywork, breath, meditation, and yoga philosophy.
Sports have always been part of my life, mostly in team settings, but yoga allowed me to experience myself in a new way: deeply, attentively, fully. The physical practices naturally opened the door to breathwork, meditation, and self-inquiry, creating a holistic path for body, mind, and spirit.
These practices merged with my work as an art teacher for over 20 years, until I left the school system in pursuit of greater freedom. Today, alongside my base in northern Germany, I call my home—a place by the sea where guests can pause, rest, learn, and simply be.
I am grounded and hands-on: if there’s work to be done, I lay stones, plaster walls, paint, or dig in the soil. Life, my surroundings, and my practice are always evolving. My yoga practice mirrors this—dynamic and challenging at times, calmer and more mindful at others, always honoring my body and its needs. No Chaturangas when moving roof tiles or pushing wheelbarrows!
I teach an approach that integrates movement, breath, mindfulness, and creativity into everyday living, cultivating awareness, strength, and presence.
Sometimes it all starts with a simple message. I look forward to hearing from you or reading your message.
